Chocolate Sponge Cake (No Eggs Or Butter!)

Being a massive cake advocate meant one thing.. it was only a matter of time before I shared this recipe, below are instructions on how to create this simple yet delicious cake.

what you will need

  • 16 grams baking powder
  • 75 grams unsweetened cocoa powder sifted
  • 200 grams plain flour sifted
  • 200 grams granulated sugar
  • 450 ml of milk
  • 35 grams vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • powdered sugar for dusting
  • Two mixing bowls
  • Wooden Spoon

INSTRUCTIONS

Preheat the oven to 160 degrees C (320 degrees F).

In one of your bowls, combine the dry ingredients (flour, cocoa, sugar and baking powder)

In a separate bowl, whisk the milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract


Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and stir with a wooden spoon until combined then pour the mixture into a greased cake tin

Be careful not to overmix , otherwise the cake will become dense!

Bake for 40 minutes or until a skewer comes out clean after testing the centre

Cool the chocolate cake and dust with icing sugar before serving.
