Yeast Free Emergency Bread

In these current troubling times of social distancing and with people panic buying everything from water, pasta, and even loo roll, you may find it even hard to get bread in your weekly shop.

Luckily for you its easy to make bread from just four store bought cupboard ingredients!

Ingredients:
500g plain Flour
2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp Salt
310 ml of milk or water with a spoon of oil mixed in
Alternative to the milk or water could be a Lemon & lime flavoured carbonated soft drink.

Directions:
Baking emergency bread is very easy and can be completed relatively quickly

Preheat your oven 190°C for Fan assisted or 210°C for non-fan assisted (375°F /Gas Mark 6.)

While the oven is getting to temperature, mix the flour, salt and baking powder in a large bowl, once well combined add the milk (or water / carbonated lemon drink) until the consistency turns doughy.
Turn the combined dough on to a work surface and knead until the mixture is consistent.

Shape the dough into a disc, roughly an inch deep and score the top. once done place onto some grease proof paper and bake for 35 minutes on the middle shelf until pale brown. A good tip to help you know if your bread is cooked properly is to tap the bottom, if it sounds hollow then you’re pretty much on target.

That’s it! Enjoy your freshly cooked delicious bread however you’d prefer.
